Greenways Magic Tour 2002
2 settimane in bici attraverso 11 "vie verdi", linee ferroviarie
dismesse e riconvertite al cicloturismo. Un modo diverso per scoprire la
Spagna e visitare città come Mérida, Siviglia, Granada, Barcellona,
Girona, Tudela, Bilbao, Gijón e Oviedo.
In tutto 350 km attraverso splendide valli, imponenti viadotti con oltre
un secolo di vita, tunnel che hanno visto passare molti treni e oggi
aspettano nuove avventure: un'esperienza indimenticabile!
Il prezzo totale è di 2200 euro compreso vitto e alloggio in hotel,
guide, assistenza tecnica, ingresso ai musei.

THE
SPANISH GREENWAYS MAGIC TOUR - 2002
Autumn
Tour : 4th - 18th October 2002
During
October 2002 and after the great success of latest editions celebrated
since 2000, once again you can discover the magic and diversity of the
Spanish Greenways.
Two weeks
by bicycle along 11 wonderful Greenways selected for their variety and
charming following old railway lines recovered for cyclotourism. A
different way (easy and safe itineraries largely away from car traffic
with barely noticeable slopes) to travel along a special country with an
extraordinary scenery and culture. With accommodation in very exceptional
locations and visits (some of them by bicycle as well) to significant
cities as Mérida, Seville, Granada, Barcelona, Girona, Tudela, Bilbao,
Gijón and Oviedo.
A total of
more than 350 km through amazing valleys and mountains, impressive bridges
and viaducts more than a hundred years old, mysterious tunnels that once
let the trains passing through and now await the new adventurers. An
unforgettable experience to meet an unknown reality and fantastic.
SCHEDULE
for GREENWAYS MAGICAL TOUR 2002
(4th - 18th October 2002)
Friday
4th Reception in Madrid by the Spanish Railway Foundation
co-ordinating body of the Spanish Greenways programme. Hotel in Madrid.
Saturday 5th Jara Greenway. 45 km of
permanent descent following a wild countryside from the Toledo Mountains
to the Tajo Valley. Typical dinner and overnight stay in the historic town
of Trujillo (Extremadura Region).
Sunday 6th Visit to Mérida and free evening
in Sevilla, the great capital of Arabic culture and Andalusia. Visit to
the Barrio de Santa Cruz, typical dinner and hotel in Seville.
Monday 7th Sierra Greenway. 36 km route along
the Guadalete River and through the unique Zaframagón Vulture Reserve.
Picnic lunch in Coripe. Visit the castle and overnight stay in the former
train Station of Olvera, now renovated as hotel.
Tuesday 8th Olive Oil Greenway. 48 km route
descending up crossing an imposing countryside of olive trees and
impressive metal viaducts from the 19th Century. Stay in Granada.
Wednesday 9th Visit to Granada, the city of
the Alhambra, the Arabic palace par excellence. Evening free in Granada. A
ride on the Sleeper (train) as far as Barcelona. Dinner aboard.
Thursday 10th Visit to Barcelona, with a
bicycle trip along the Ramblas, around the marvellous Gothic City and the
Old Port. Overnight stay in Girona.
Friday 11th Carrilet Greenway. 54 km of
descent from Pyrenees foothills to the outstanding medieval city of Girona.
Visit to Girona and hotel in the city.
Saturday 12th Girona-Costa Brava Greenway. 23
km descending until the Sant Feliú de Guixols beaches. Come back to
Barcelona and travel by train to Tudela (Navarra). Night in Tudela.
Sunday 13th Tarazonica Greenway. 22 km among
monumental cities from Tudela and Tarazona (Aragón) including visit to
Tulebras Monastery. Coach trip to Préjano Greenway, 13 km along
cultivated plaints of fruit and landscape to the prehistoric footsteps of
Préjano and Arnedillo Spa (possibility of treatment baths). Overnight
stay in the Spa.
Monday 14th Plazaola Greenway. 31 km
descending route which follows the marvellous valley of the River Leitzarán,
one of the most beautiful areas of the Basque Country, close to San
Sebastian. Overnight stay in Bilbao.
Tuesday 15th Bilbao. Visit to the Guggenheim
Museum and free time in the city. Coach trip to Santander with a dinner in
the Fishermen's Port. Hotel in Santander.
Wednesday 16th Pas Greenway. 34 km route
enjoying the Cantabrian mountains and the Peña Cabarga Natural Park.
Evening and overnight stay in Gijón.
Thursday 17th Oso Greenway 34 km route
descending by the unbelievable old mining railway of Teverga, discovering
its gorges and tunnels. Lunch at typical sidrería and trip to La Camocha
Greenway (9 Km), to arrive until Oviedo. Farewell dinner and return by
Sleeper (train) to Madrid.
Friday 18th Arrival to Madrid an End of the
Tour.
Full rates
include: Double-room accommodation for the whole trip (14 nights), lunches
(except 9th in Granada and 15th in Bilbao), dinners (except 11th in
Girona and 16th in Gijón), transport by train and coach journeys,
bicycles transport, guide (in Spanish and English), technical support (with
a prop van), comprehensive accident insurance and museum and monuments
tickets offered. Tax Included.
Global
Price: 2.200 euros. (There is a supplement of 275 euros for single-room
accommodation). Possibility of partial tours with a minimum four-day trip,

Option
A: From the Toledo Mountains to the Alhambra.
Friday 4th (Madrid) - Wednesday 9th (Granada) 4 1/2
days, 5 nights.
Jara, Sierra and Olive Oil Greenways. Visits to
Trujillo, Mérida, Seville, Olvera and Ronda.
575 euros. (there is a supplement of 76 euros for
single-room accommodation).
Option
B: Andalusian and Catalonian Greenways.
Sunday 6th (Seville) - Saturday 12th (Barcelona) 6
days, 7 nights. Sierra, Olive Oil, Carrilet and Girona-Costa Brava
Greenways. Visits to Olvera, Granada, Barcelona and Girona.
745 euros. (there is a supplement of 125 euros for
single-room accommodation)
Option
C: From Barcelona to Oviedo along La Rioja and Cantabria.
Saturday 12th (Barcelona) - Friday 18th (Madrid) 6
days, 7 nights. Tarazonica, Préjano, Plazaola, Pas, Oso and Fuso
Greenways. Visits to Tarazona, Tudela, Arnedillo Spa, Bilbao, Santander,
Gijón and Oviedo.
825 euros. (there is a supplement of 107 euros for
single-room accommodation).
Reduction
of 10% for bookings made before 15th July of 2002.
This Tour will be carried out with a minimum of
15 participants.
